What Happens Next?
Complete your identity verification. Before we can process your application, we need to verify your identity. Please choose one of the three options below. You only need to complete one method. We have also emailed you more detailed instructions.
Verify Online with TrustID
This is normally the quickest and easiest option. Secure online identity verification with TrustID is included at no additional cost.
To use TrustID, you will need:
- A valid biometric passport
- A smartphone or tablet with a working camera
- To take photographs of your passport and yourself
What Is a Biometric Passport?
A biometric passport contains an electronic chip that securely stores information about the passport holder.
Look for the electronic-passport symbol shown below on the front cover of your passport.
If your passport displays this symbol, it is a biometric passport.
If you do not have a valid biometric passport, please do not start the TrustID check. Use the Post Office or Responsible Person option below instead.

Alternative Verification Options
If you cannot complete the online TrustID check, you can have your identity verified using one of the following methods.
Use a Post Office
Download the Post Office verification form and take it, together with the required original identity documents, to a participating Post Office. They will charge you £12.75 for this service.
Download Post Office FormUse a Responsible Person
Ask an appropriate professional person who knows you to check your original identity documents and complete the Responsible Person verification form. This is free of charge. Please refer to our email for full instructions.

If you applied through a business or organisation, or applied as a self-employed person, you will also receive a VAT receipt.
